Using the Hema Navigator (HN) with PC OziExplorer

See Hema Navigator FAQ

Connecting a PND to a PC Computer

When you connect the PND it may connect in either of two methods -

1.  Connect as a Mass Storage Device  -  the PND will show as a disk drive and files can be copied using Windows Explorer.

2.  It will not connect at all  -  in this case, copy the files direct to the memory card (SD Card or similar) using a card reader.

NOTE:  PND navigators do not output position data so that they CANNOT be used with OziExplorer as a GPS for moving map tracking.

Copying Files using a Card Reader

Remove the SD card from the PND and use a card reader to copy your files. (After you insert the card back into the PND, you may need to reset the PND so it can recognize the card.

Maps

Many of the maps used in OziExplorer can also be used in OziExplorerCE.  It may be necessary to convert the maps using Img2Ozf map converter for use in OziExplorerCE.  Also see Using Maps in CE.

The maps are usually stored in the "OziExplorer\Maps" folder on the PC.   On the device memory card, the maps are usually stored in the "Maps" folder.

Map Path Configuration

If you want to create a new folder for your maps you must add the folder path into OziExplorerCE configuration. (Note: sub-folders of the map file path will always be found and do not need to be entered separately)

Configuration Help

To do this - On the File Menu / Configuration / Map & Data Files - a dialog will appear where the "Map File Paths" can be entered. Click the box "..." button to select the folder.

Transferring Additional Maps from your PC to the PND

NOTE : If the maps have not been copied to the OziExplorer Maps folder on the memory card on your PND and have been copied to a different folder on the SD Card, the path to the new folder must be added to the OziExplorerCE / Configuration / Map and Data Files (see Map Path Configuration above).

Transferring Data to and From your PC

Waypoints

Creating New Waypoints in PC OziExplorer and transferring the to the PND

This describes a quick method if you only want to add additional waypoints to the PND from PC OziExplorer (not bringing the waypoints from the PND to PC OziExplorer for editing).

Transferring All Waypoints from the PND to PC OziExplorer

Transferring All Waypoints from PC OziExplorer to the PND

NOTE 1 : This method should only be done if you want to replace all the waypoints in the PND with the ones you are transferring from the PC as the waypoints in the PND will be deleted first.

You should back-up the waypoints in the PND by using Windows Explorer to copy ceWaypoints.wpb file from the PND into a folder on the PC first, just in case something goes wrong.

NOTE 2 : OziExplorerCE stores its waypoints in sets, so it is also possible by using the Waypoints Set List to Export (save) a specific waypoint set for use in PC OziExplorer (see below).

Transferring a Waypoint Set from the PND to PC OziExplorer

OziExplorerCE stores its waypoints in sets, use the method below to transfer just a single set of waypoints to PC OziExplorer.

Transferring a Waypoint Set from PC OziExplorer to the PND

You should back-up the waypoints in the PND by using Windows Explorer to copy ceWaypoints.wpb file from the PND into a folder on the PC first, just in case something goes wrong.

Tracks

Transferring the Track Log from the PND to OziExplorer

Transferring Tracks from PC OziExplorer to the PND

Transferring the Track Tail from the PND to OziExplorer

The track tail is mainly meant for internal use by OziExplorerCE to show a short section of the most recent track on the map. However it can be exported to a standard OziExplorer track if desired.

Note : For logging of the full track where you have been you would normally use the "Log Track to File" option, which causes every track point to be continuously stored in the ceTrack.plt file.
