Map Features and Map Comments
Adding Map Features and Comments
Map Features and Map Comments are used when you want to store more
information about important map features
such as camping areas, islands, etc. Map Features can also have a waypoint assigned to
them if there are free waypoints available - this waypoint cannot be modified by the user.
To add Map Comments graphically press the Mc Button on the Tool Bar.
- The mouse pointer will change to cross hairs, position the center of the pointer over
the point where you want the Map Comment and press the Left mouse button.
- To try this now, click on a position on the map.
- A map comment will be added to the map.
- Double click on the Map Comment to show the Properties window.
- Enter your comment to change the default text and try changing the other
properties.
- Click the Save button on the properties window.
To add Map Features graphically press the Mf Button on the Tool Bar.
- The mouse pointer will change to cross hairs, position the center of the pointer over
the point where you want the Map Feature and press the Left mouse button.
- Similar to other map objects, to show the Properties window to make
changes to its properties double click on the Map Feature symbol.
Remember that Map Features and Map Comments are saved with the map, so to make them
permanent you must resave the map.
- If you added a new map comment to the map, you will notice the Map Quick
Save button just above the map on the right is now
Red. When the text is red the
data in memory has been modified, in this case pressing the button will
instantly save the map file using the same name for the map as when it was
loaded.
To Delete a Map Object
Now we will delete the Map Comment you have just added.
- Position the mouse pointer on the Map Comment (the cursor should
change to a finger) and press the right mouse button. A popup menu will
appear, select the Delete option.
- You will notice the Map Quick Save button has again turned
Red, showing the map (or map comment / map feature) has been
modified. Click on the button and instantly save the map file.
This process is used to delete any Map Object and to
change the properties of any map object
If you want to change the default properties for all new objects, this
is done in Configuration.
